What BS METAL does not deliver
The following is not part of a window fabricator’s scope of work. It is handled by engineers: the Energy Inspector (Ενεργειακός Επιθεωρητής) and the programme’s Technical Adviser (Τεχνικός Σύμβουλος).
- the energy performance certificate (ΠΕΑ), before and after the works
- checking whether the property is eligible
- the subsidy percentage that applies
- submitting and managing the application
- certifying completion of the works and releasing the funds
Our contribution to the file is technical: the measurement, the system series, the glazing build-up and the declared Uw of the unit — the figure the Energy Inspector enters in the official record of interventions.
What an energy-compliant frame has to satisfy
Whatever the programme, three things are required together — and none of them is enough on its own.
Thermally broken profile
The inner and outer aluminium sections are joined through a material of low thermal conductivity.
What a thermal break isEnergy glazing
At least double glazing with a Low-E coating, usually with argon and a warm-edge spacer.
Double or triple glazingDocumented performance
CE marking and a Declaration of Performance stating the Uw of the actual unit — not the Uf of the series.
Uw, Uf & UgThe maximum permitted Uw is set by the Greek building energy code per climate zone. Most of Attica falls into zone B; mountainous areas above 500 m fall into a colder zone.
